What is Drawing in LightDrawing with light is the idea of creating shapes using light. The only way this is possible is if the room you are in is pitch black. With drawing with light, you are able to form shapes and images with your wildest thoughts. It is a creative topic as you are able to create a scene which is very broad.

A step by step process
A Youtube tutorial shows example of her ideas towards drawing with light.
Equipment - Tripod Source of light with different filters for colour Camera A dark room Steps - I have received the ideas from a good photography website. The steps are really concise. 1. Be sure not to shine the torch directly in the camera during the long exposure since that would bleed out in the picture and mess up the final image. When shining directly into the camera, something like the picture above will come out and that is not how it should look like. 2. The location of where the image is taken is very important, since there should be no light source around, and no moving objects, etc. It is better not to do it in the city since this is the place with a lot of light sources and moving objects. 3. What to wear is very important, seriously, since in some pictures one wants to stand out and in others one doesn’t. Therefor the use of black and white t-shirts depending on the scene is important. 4. Place your camera on the tripod or on any stable place, about 3-4 meters away from where you want to stand. (The distance can also be longer, depending on the size of the area). Make sure to set the camera mode to 'manual' (M), and adjust the camera's shutter speed to 20-30 seconds depending on how much time one needs. Because of the time one needs to get in place, set a timer or ask another person to press to start. Make sure to have no other lights unless you want it. |
Where have I used tools to draw on PS?Throughout my time on Photoshop to edit my photos, I have used a variety of tools. Most of my tools used, link to the idea of drawing.
For example, I have used the lassoo. This was used on my Weird and Wonderful work I wanted to create the illusion of a ghost. To do I needed to take the shape and move it. I also changed the opacity of it to make it more effective. I wanted to circle around an object to bring it bigger or to duplicate it. On my Conflict project, we needed to create a few outcomes of our favourite pictures. To do so I used Photoshop to create a poster. As i didn't have that much experience on Photoshop, I was limited to what tools to use to change the colour of the background. I used the paint brush to change a background whilst my model was the center of the image. |
